Just in time for NRF 2022, digital signage company CrownTV is releasing an app that will allow retailers and other businesses to display NFTs on digital displays in their retail locations or points of business. The robust, scalable app integrated with CrownTV’s already powerful digital signage solution will bring NFTs – which typically exist solely in the digital realm – into the physical realm to be displayed in retail spaces. CrownTV will exclusively debut the app at NRF 2022, where attendees can see it for themselves at booth #726.
An NFT, or non-fungible token, is a unique digital asset that lives on a blockchain and can be purchased and sold. NFTs often take the form of digital artwork, but can also be photography, music, videos, tweets, memes, or any kind of easily reproduced digital file.

The app will enable businesses to display an NFT they own or any NFT publicly available on OpenSea, the largest NFT marketplace. In addition to displaying the NFT itself, users can display additional information like the price, provenance, description, and even a QR code that retail shoppers can scan to purchase the NFT on their phone right from the store. Retailers that have been looking for a way to create a digital canvas and monetize NFTs they create or own will benefit greatly from this new solution.
Bringing NFTs into the physical realm hasn’t been without its challenges. Major brands like Nike, Disney, McDonald’s, and the Dallas Mavericks NBA team have begun offering NFTs to consumers and fans but have not yet experimented with displaying them in retail locations. Superchief Gallery launched the first physical NFT art gallery in early 2021, but visitors complained of glitchy, lagging screens during exhibitions. Toy brand L.O.L Surprise! got creative by announcing what it’s calling “the largest retail NFT launch in history” in which the company is releasing 10 million packs of cards in 20,000 retail outlets including Walmart, Target, and Walgreens. Each pack of cards has its own QR code for digital trading cards, tokens, NFTs or a digital version of a physical collectible.
CrownTV’s NFT app will be available at no added cost to users of its digital signage software, on the already robust dashboard. The content can be optimized for video walls, vertical displays, horizontal displays, and any screens with HDMI support, in up to 4K resolution. All of CrownTV’s apps offer automatic updates, refreshing regularly in the background so your content is always up to date. And as with CrownTV’s other digital signage apps, the NFT can be added to a playlist and remotely scheduled to display among other apps and content, on screens of your choosing throughout your network of stores.
